Transit New Zealand will erect temporary fencing on two bridges across the Southern Motorway to stop lethal objects being tossed on to traffic passing below.
The fences are expected to go up on Bairds Rd bridge at Otara and Princes St at Otahuhu, where a 14-year-old boy now accused of murder allegedly dropped a slab of concrete on to a vehicle on the motorway, killing driver Chris Currie.
Transit and the police are to consider more permanent solutions.
