KEY POINTS:
Police have named the woman who was killed in a head-on collision with a truck on State Highway One in central North Island yesterday.
She was Carol Pekama, 45, from Hastings.
Police said the accident, just after midnight, happened near the township of Atiamuri, about 25km south of Tokoroa.
Ms Pekama, the sole occupant of the car, was killed instantly.
The truck driver was uninjured.
Constable Mark Bond of Taupo police said investigations into the crash were continuing, but fatigue appeared to be the likely cause of the accident.
