Emergency services have rescued a woman from Wellington Harbour after she was spotted swimming offshore from Oriental Bay around 8.20pm.
A member of public rang the police and said the woman was fully clothed and swimming towards Carter Fountain, launching a search and rescue operation.
The Westpac helicopter, coastguard, police units and maritime police all assisted in the search and the woman was located shortly before 10pm.
