A female pedestrian has suffered life threatening injuries after being struck by a petrol tanker in central Dunedin this morning.
Emergency services were called to the corner of Frederick and Castle St, following reports a pedestrian had been hit by an Allied Petroleum tanker and trailer at 8.25am.
Southern District deployment co-ordinator Senior Sergeant Craig Brown said the petrol tanker was travelling west on Frederick St and turning into Castle St intending to head south.
The vehicle is then believed to have struck a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a female believed to be in her late 20s, suffered critical injuries and was taken to Dunedin Hospital.
