A woman out jogging was killed by a car thought to be overtaking in Taranaki.
Police said Deanne Cooper, 36, of Hawera, was running on Ohangai Rd in the town yesterday evening when she was hit.
Initial indications were that the car was overtaking a ute or four-wheel drive when the car hit her.
The driver stopped and gave her first aid but she died at the scene.
"We are working to determine what factors have led to the crash and it is too early at this stage to comment on any charges, Acting Senior Sergeant Robyn Burnett said.
