Feed the birds

Animal lovers are being asked to remember the plight of birds and other wildlife such as hedgehogs in drought-stricken areas of the North Island.

Bob Kerridge of the SPCA said water was in short supply, as were the bugs the animals fed on.

He urged people to leave saucers of water out for birds, as well as bread crumbs, birdseed and food scraps.
