Featherston and Red Star will play off in the grand final of the Wairarapa division one competition after winning their semi-final games at Clareville on Saturday.
The first semi went right to the wire with Featherston edging out Dalefield Gold 3-2. A hat-trick to Tracey Donald illustrated how vital her attacking ability is to the Featherston side and their defence also impressed, especially in the last minutes when Dalefield Gold threw everything at them bar the proverbial kitchen sink.
The second semi was also a tightly-contested affair with Red Star and Wairarapa College seconds being locked at 0-0 at haltime. However, it was the more experienced Red Star who finished the stronger, scoring two unanswered second half goals.
The final will be played at Clareville next Saturday, starting at 3pm, while the playoff for third and fourth was held on Sunday with Dalefield Gold beating the Wairarapa College seconds 5-3.
Also played yesterday was the playoff for fifth and sixth with Dalefield Black and Dalefield Dazzlers drawing 1-1.
