Featherston have won Bowls Wairarapa's McKenzie Motors sevens men's interclub competition in what is a major coup for one of the region's smallest clubs.
They won the title from Martinborough with defending champions, and hot favourites, Masterton doing no better than third. But if the men's competition was disappointing for Masterton they could take solace from having won the women's interclub title. Runners-up there were Eketahuna with Lansdowne third. The Featherston men and Masterton women will now progress to the regional playoffs where they will aim to qualify for the national finals.
The Hannam Knowles second-tier men's competition produced some close results with Park claiming the spoils from Greytown and Masterton A.
