Police say a man missing from Porirua for two days may be trying to get to Auckland and they are concerned for his safety as he will not have been taking his daily medication.
William Campbell, 26, was last seen in the Kenepuru Hospital grounds on Wednesday morning.
His parents, Don and Liz Campbell were helping police but were becoming increasing anxious.
"The family is gathered together anxiously waiting to hear about our treasured son and brother. Not knowing where he is and whether he is all right is deeply distressing. We urgently need to know," they said it a statement released by police today.
It was possible Mr Campbell may be travelling to Auckland, Detective Sergeant Steve Dunn of Porirua CIB said.
