KEY POINTS:
Police are worried about the safety of a two-year-old boy, who has been allegedly abducted from an Auckland suburb.
Detective Sergeant Peter Litherland said Waitemata CIB in Henderson were investigating the alleged abduction in the West Auckland suburb of Ranui early today.
Police have concerns for the infant's safety after he was removed from a Ranui home by a 17-year-old female relative about midnight, he said.
The infant, Kauri Chapman, is believed to be with Richelle Samuels, also known as Rochelle Cooper-Taatau and Angela.
The teenager was wearing a pink hooded jacket, green and white striped shirt.
Police are appealing to the public for sightings of the boy and the female teenager.
"It appears Richelle Samuels was picked up from the Ranui address in an unknown vehicle.
"We would like anyone with knowledge of the whereabouts of either Kauri or Richelle or the vehicle used to contact us immediately."
