KEY POINTS:
Hamilton police are fearing for the safety of a intellectually handicapped deaf woman with very poor eyesight who went missing from Cambridge overnight.
Acting Sergeant Chris Greenwood said the 26-year-old walked away from a Swayne Rd address about midnight in a very confused state.
The woman had a mental age of a 12-year-old, Mr Greenwood said.
She was described as Caucasion, 1.52m tall, of a slim build and with dark brown shoulder length hair.
She was wearing a blue polar fleece sweatshirt, jeans and sandals.
Mr Greenwood said he was concerned for her well-being due to her mental state and the wet weather conditions.
Police and search and rescue teams were searching for her, he said.
