Zak Nolan destroyed his opposition in the 6-8yrs 50cc trail bike class at the New Zealand mini motocross championships held in Taranaki earlier this month.
Nolan, 8, from Masterton contested five events in his division over the two days and absolutely guaranteed the national title was his by winning all of them on his CRS Honda.
Father Darren Nolan watched on as his son chalked up victory after victory and was "pretty amazed" at how he dominated proceedings.
"He got on a roll and noone could stop him," a proud Dad said. "It's nerve wracking watching him but he just goes out there and does his thing".
Zak Nolan's introduction to bike racing actually came when he was just two-and a -half years of age.
It was then that his family donated a food item in a Christmas promotion organised for Dave Anderson Motorcyles in Masterton , all contributors to which had their names placed in the draw for a children's trail bike.
The Nolans were the lucky winners , Darren Nolan fitted a couple of trainer wheels on the bike and young Zak was away.
Now a pupil at St Patrick's School the last 12 months has seen Zak increase his array of impressive trophies on a regular basis.
His ability to string a number of top notch rides together saw him win his class at a major meet at Woodville by a wide margin.Four races there produced four wins.
At the Wellington championships held at Foxton he placed third and he finished second in the Spectro winter series.
His national title win came at Zak's final outing in a competitive sense on his 50cc bike and he is now preparing to take on mostly older riders in the 65cc division, a challenge which his father says won't faze the diminutive youngster one iota. "He can hardly put his feet on the ground when seated but he's got no fear, it's scarier for us than him,"Darren Nolan said.
