About 600 homes lost power in southern Masterton yesterday due to a fault at a residential supply feeder, says Powerco.
Dean Stevenson, Powerco acting network operations manager, said maintenance work had been scheduled in the area but was unrelated to the fault. Field staff were investigating the cause.
The power outage struck about 9am and electricity was restored to about 600 customers by 11.30am, while about 65 customers were affected by the scheduled power cut.
