Two North Shore MPs, National's Wayne Mapp and Labour's Ann Hartley, were targeted yesterday by the Auckland West Union of Fathers as they upped the ante in their protests about perceived injustices in the Family Court.
Until now, the coalition of fathers has held protests outside the homes of Family Court judges, lawyers and court-appointed psychologists.
"We are doing the job for you," spokesman Jim Bagnall blared out through a loud speaker at the plush Belmont home of Dr Mapp, carrying a placard referring to the MP's political correctness eradicator role.
Last night, Dr Mapp said he had been away when the 20 or so protesters arrived at his home. If he had been home, he would have come out and spoken to the group.
Dr Mapp said the group had had some success with making the Family Court a bit more open, but he believed the group had overstated its case.
The group also demonstrated outside the homes of three Family Court lawyers yesterday.
At the home of lawyer Katherine Hayman in Milford, a neighbour, Helen Hendren, said: "I really feel for you guys but it is not fair you are nobbling this woman."
