The father of the little abandoned girl, known as Pumpkin, had been searching for his missing older daughter, it has been revealed.
A short film was shot by a Unitec student earlier this year with Xue Naiyin, who has been captured on CCTV footage abandoning his three year old daughter in a Melbourne railway station before boarding a plane to Los Angeles.
A police manhunt is now under way to find Mr Xue and his wife, Anan Liu who is missing.
But a short film has surfaced shot this year with Mr Xue seeking his other daughter, an older child by an earlier marriage, who is missing.
The documentary produced by Unitec Performing and Screen Arts student Hang Xie, tells the story of Mr Xue searching for his other daughter who was missing at the time the documentary was made and is still yet to be found.
According to information released by Unitec, it shows Mr Xue with little Qian Xun Xue, nicknamed Pumpkin by Melbourne police who found her. He talks about how he wanted to be a better father than he had been to his older daughter.
The link between the footage and that of Mr Xue was discovered this morning by Unitec tutor Tony Wright who helped supervise Hang during the making of the documentary.
Wright says he only made the connection when he saw the family photo of Mr Xue and his wife.
A martial arts expert, Mr Xue was approached by Hang to do the documentary through their love of martial arts.
"When I first heard about it, I couldn't believe it," says Mr Hang. "Before this thing happened, I thought he was really nice to his daughter- but now it's made me confused."
Xue has a big martial arts following in America and Asia.
