A 16-year-old schoolboy and his 45-year-old father have been charged with cannabis-dealing offences after the supply of drugs to pupils was discovered at the boy's Napier school.
Napier CIB head Detective Senior Sergeant Bill Gregory would not name the school yesterday, but praised its involvement in alerting police to the matter.
The alert led to a search in which 13 cannabis plants, two packages of about 28 grams of cannabis, and six "tinnies" were found in a Napier South house on Wednesday night.
Cash totalling $1180 was also found in the boy's possession.
Mr Gregory could not confirm that some of the cannabis use may have taken place on school property.
He said police were alerted about a week ago and the operation had relied on "information within the school community".
Charges laid include cultivating cannabis and aggravated possession of cannabis for supply to people aged under 18 years.
