KEY POINTS:
A father whose two children drowned when they were trapped under a boat in the Hauraki Gulf has pleaded not guilty to a charge under maritime law.
Lindsay Rowles appeared in the North Shore District Court this morning charged with operating a vessel in a manner causing unnecessary danger or risk.
He stood angrily in the dock while the charge was read twice, before he entered his plea of not guilty.
Rowles and his wife escaped from the boat when it sank in April, but his children, aged eight and five, both drowned.
He refused legal advice before his appearance. Rowles has been remanded to reappear in court in February.
