KEY POINTS:
The father of two children who drowned when they were trapped in their sinking boat last year was back in court today charged with operating the boat unsafely.
Lindsay Rowles, 54, appeared in North Shore District Court charged under the Maritime Transport Act for operating a vessel in a manner causing unnecessary danger or risk.
Rowles was remanded on bail to reappear for plea in North Shore District Court next month.
The charges were laid by Maritime New Zealand after Rowles' children Erina, 8, and Travis, 5, drowned when their boat sank near Shag Island in the Hauraki Gulf on Anzac Day last year.
