KEY POINTS:
A man discharged from Rotorua Hospital made his 10-year-old daughter drive him home because he was in too much pain and couldn't afford a taxi.
Senior Constable Stephen Murray said a car was pulled over at 11pm during a drink-driving campaign at Easter weekend.
"I stuck the sniffer device through the window and there was this little tiny kid with her seat right up to the steering wheel. I could hardly see her."
The father walked off with his daughter and managed to find a relative, who drove the car for him.
Mr Murray said the dad would be sent a ticket for aiding and abetting an unlicensed driver - an instant fine of $400.
