An Otaki man has been convicted of posting semi-nude pictures of his 14-year-old daughter on the internet.
The man, 45, who has name suppression to protect the identity of his daughter, was today found guilty in Wellington District Court on nine counts of making objectionable material.
He was found not guilty on three counts of possessing objectionable material involving bestiality and urination.
The Crown said that between 2007 and 2008 the man either took or directed his daughter to take pictures of herself with her breast exposed, in return for mobile phone credit.
He then posted one of the pictures on a website on which visitors give breasts ratings out of 10, showing his daughter what ranking she got.
The girl told police that her father also asked her to pose completely nude, which she refused.
"It's kind of like he's got a crush on me," she said.
The man did not give evidence but his lawyer Steve Gill claimed the daughter was lying and took all the photos herself, with the intention of sending them to her then boyfriend.
The fact that she had previously sent an image of her breast exposed to her boyfriend showed she was the type of person to take the images, Mr Gill said.
The reason she told the police her dad had taken the images or incited her to take the images was out of "anger at being told what to do when she didn't want to".
"She's totally and utterly unbelievable," he told the jury.
Concerning the issue of the objectionable videos the defence argued there was no evidence the accused put the photos on the computer as many people had access to the laptop in question.
The man was remanded on bail for sentencing on November 16 and will be assessed for electronic monitoring.
