The father-and-daughter combination of Luke and Sade Atkinson are hoping to be on the winning team for the second successive year when the grand final of the Gawith Shield regional one competition is played at Masterton Tennis Centre on Saturday.
The Atkinsons were an integral part of the successful Masterton squad 12 months ago but this time, they will be in a powerful Pirinoa line-up taking on Martinborough.
In fact, there will be three Atkinsons involved in the final this year with Sade's younger sister Georgia partnering her in the women's section.
Their presence means Pirinoa will be strongly favoured to win the two singles and one doubles match up for grabs there.
Pirinoa also have strength in depth in their men's section, with Bruce Holybone at No1 in the singles order, followed by Tim Pickering, Atkinson and Andy Darling. The latter has previously won the regional one interclub title as a member of the Martinborough club.
Whether Martinborough will be at full strength on Saturday was still to be confirmed yesterday but the likelihood is their men's section will consist of Steve Chapman, Marco de Groot and the Nicholson brothers, Matt and Dan.
The experienced Libby Paterson is likely to be in their women's section, along with either Natalie Donaldson or Rhona Lovell.
