Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal car accident which left a father and his teenage daughter dead north of Hunterville last night.
The pair died at the scene after a two-car collision on State Highway 1 at Vinegar Hill, 3km north of Hunterville at about 5pm.
Police said it appeared the driver of a Honda travelling south crossed the centre line into the path of the Toyota driven by the 48-year-old father.
The Honda driver suffered serious injuries and underwent emergency surgery.
Another teenage girl who was travelling in the Toyota car is expected to be released from hospital today.
Police, fire, ambulance and the Square Trust Rescue Helicopter all attended the crash.
The highway was closed for about five hours as emergency workers treated the injured and worked to release the deceased from their vehicle.
Names of the deceased will not be released until next of kin have been informed.
