The father of a Hokitika boy who drowned when his dad's vehicle landed in a dredge pond at a goldmine near Rimu seven months ago is unlikely to face any criminal charges.
It is understood that police have no intention of laying any charges against Mark Bowes.
In August last year, Mr Bowes took his two children, Tayne and Keira, to the goldmine where he worked to check a water pump.
The vehicle the children were in landed upside down in the dredge pond, killing 9-year-old Tayne. His sister miraculously survived.
Police at the scene pulled her from the submerged wreckage after 90 minutes in the freezing water, where she managed to breath through a small air pocket in the back of the vehicle.
