Police investigating the death of Lower Hutt woman Warriena Wright are examining a case - nearly 30 years old - in which a a fleeing woman fell to her death.
The Courier Mail reported today that officers attempting to stack up a murder charge against 28-year-old Gable Tostee in the Wright case were examining a 1986 murder case in which 33-year-old tattooist Kim William Royall was convicted of killing his partner after she fell six floors to her death in a bid to escape him.
Kelly Healey was in the shower when Royall smashed the bathroom door open and punched her in the face while throttling her.
Ms Healey then climbed out of the window and fell more than 20 metres to her death.
Royall was found guilty of murder despite not landing a fatal blow or pushing her.
