A person has died after a medical event which closed the main highway in Tauranga.
Emergency services responded to the incident on Turret Rd (State Highway 2A) at 5.30pm.
A road closure was in place from Turret Rd Bridge to the intersection of Fifteenth Ave and Burrows Ave.
Motorists were asked to delay travel or choose alternate routes.
