An 18-year-old who pleaded guilty to a fatal hit-and-run in September will be sentenced later this morning.
Sean Hutt, 21, was killed instantly after Harry Silcock clipped a group of people while travelling at speed down Shands Road in Hornby.
Harry Silcock pleaded guilty in October to having been the driver of a car involved in a fatal accident, and failing to render assistance.
While there was initial concern Silcock hit the man as he was passing a car he was racing with, Christchurch police have said there was nothing to support those allegations.
Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Murton said the charges laid against Harry Silcock are based on him overtaking on double yellow lines before he hit the victim.
