Fatal fire in flat thought accidental

Fire safety officers believe the fire which killed a man in the Auckland suburb of Hillsborough on Thursday night was an accident.

The small fire broke out in a flat under a house. Firefighters arrived to find the man near the seat of the fire.

Fire safety officer Jonathan Shelley said the fire was believed to be accidental. The victim has not been named.
