Emergency services are at the scene of a fatal crash on State Highway One, north of Wellington.
Police were alerted to a crash between a car and a small truck shortly before 4.30am at Pukerua Bay.
The sole female occupant of the car died at the scene, while one of the two occupants of the truck has received a minor leg injury, with the second occupant of the truck uninjured.
The cause of the crash is not yet known and the Police Serious Crash Unit are currently conducting a scene examination.
State Highway One at the crash scene was closed but reopened this morning.
