Fatal crash in Northland

A woman is dead following a two-car crash about 2.20pm yesterday on Baylys Coast Rd near an intersection 8km west of Dargaville.

"It appears that one of the vehicles may have veered to avoid a pool of water on the road and collided with another travelling in the opposite direction," Inspector Lou Alofa of the police northern communications centre said.

The occupant of the second vehicle suffered moderate injuries. Motorists were diverted from the area.
