A man has died following a single-car crash in North Canterbury early this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene on State Highway One, near Conway River, at about 2.30am.
The man's vehicle had been travelling north and lost control, leaving the road and hitting a number of trees.
He was the sole occupant in the car. No other details have been released about the man, whose next of kin has been informed of his death.
The road was was still closed at 6am today, as officers from the Serious Crash Unit carried out a scene examination and worked to remove the vehicle.
