Fatal crash in Huntly takes weekend road toll to eight

A person is dead after a crash involving a car and motorbike on Harris Rd in Huntly, taking the Queen's Birthday Weekend road toll to eight.

A motorcyclist has died when his north-bound bike crashed into a car heading south.

The driver of the car was uninjured. The crash happened just before 3pm today.

Update: SH1B south of Taupiri is now OPEN, but there are long delays to traffic due to crash and #QueensBirthdayTraffic. ^LC

Harris St and Glen Murray Rd are closed and diversions are in place.

Police are still at the scene and have asked motorists for their patience.
