Fatal crash at Wellsford

A person has died and another has been flown to hospital in a serious condition after a road crash near Wellsford this morning.

The crash happened on the southern outskirts of the town, north of Auckland, at about 5.30am, according to a statement from police.

The police serious crash unit is investigating the cause of the crash.

Meanwhile, the road is closed and diversions are in place.
