Fatal accident closes SH1 at Tokoroa

One person has died in a car accident south of Tokoroa, Waikato, this morning.

Police said the accident, which occurred about 7.30am, involved only one car.


They said they believed the victim was the passenger in a car heading north. The driver escaped with minor injuries.


State Highway 1 was closed 10km south of the town and was not expected to reopen until mid-morning.
