Auckland Park Regency, which backs onto Myers Park in downtown Auckland, has the style and feeling of a boutique hotel.
It utilises plenty of natural light and its architectural features set it aside from most inner-city venues, says its sales manager Gabrielle Thornton.
Opened last May by the Governor-General Sir Michael Hardie Boys, the hotel has 170 de luxe rooms, suites and penthouse suites.
Its conference centre on the mezzanine floor can be divided into three rooms: a "tasteful" boardroom with an oval mahogany table for up to 12 people; another which seats 80 theatre-style, 40 classroom-style and 30 U-shaped; and the third, 30 theatre-style and l5 U-shaped.
The whole facility can cater for up to 150 at a cocktail party or up to 140 for a wedding.
A terrace area overlooks Myers Park and the hotel pool (with heated jacuzzi) and flows on from Governors' Restaurant which seats 50 to 70.
Conference sales executive, Carolyn Moore, says the restaurant "is popular with casual diners and is also offered as an alternative for morning and afternoon teas, cocktails and other breakout and post-conference entertainment."
It specialises in Pacific Rim cuisine and has great-value breakfasts, lunches and dinners, she says.
Gabrielle Thornton says the hotel, with its variety of rooms, can also cater for small corporate meetings and confidential interviews. There is ample secure parking available, which is free to hotel guests.
"Being just two minutes' walk downhill to the Aotea Centre, Town Hall and the Civic, means we can offer handy accommodation for those large congresses or conferences and work closely with The Edge complex," she says.
The hotel's $45.50 per person one-day package includes coffee and tea on arrival, morning tea, working lunch, afternoon tea and drinks in Grey's Bar. In-house audio visual equipment is included.
"Smart technology, featuring audio-visual and data projection, video conferencing and high-speed communication links, will service your confidential meeting or special wedding celebration," Gabrielle Thornton says.
