A North Auckland farmer suffered bruising to his head and body after a bull attacked him several times.
Emergency staff were called to a property in Wellsford, just north of Auckland, just after 6.30pm yesterday.
St John treated the man, in his 60s, before the Auckland Westpac rescue helicopter flew him to Auckland City Hospital.
Although the man's injuries were serious, intensive care flight paramedic Stefan Gabor said he was in good spirits and even managed to joke with staff about the fate of the bull.
"He was very stoic and remarkably well considering his ordeal and the fact he had just had an adult bull sit on his head and torso a number of times.
