KEY POINTS:
Farmer Trevor Douglas Craig, 52, died on Saturday when his tractor and mower slid down a hill on his property at Waitepeka, near Balclutha.
The Department of Labour is investigating.
Acting Sergeant Craig Dinnissen, of Balclutha, said the tractor lost grip on a moderate to steep hillside and slipped about 70m down the side of the hill.
Mr Craig was thrown from the tractor and became entangled underneath the mower.
