Businesses near the site of a land occupation in Northland are facing lost earnings after tourists were turned away today.
A Maori group in Taipa occupying private land stopped a tourist bus from its regular morning tea stop at Taipa Bay Resort.
One man boarded the bus explaining the group's grievances to passengers, most of whom were not New Zealanders.
Taipa Bay Resort owner Dale Synott says she's down several hundred dollars from the lost takings, and a nearby bakery missed out too.
She says the bus operators will be in touch with her daily on whether they'll stop at Taipa or not.
