If a fan is still on your shopping list to combat the sweltering heat this summer, you're not alone in Wairarapa, or the rest of the country for that matter, as they are apparently sold out nationwide.
A drought in the sales arena for fans in New Zealand prompted Wairarapa Times-Age to scope out the phenomenon.
The Warehouse, Briscoes, Mitre 10, Mitre 10 Mega, Noel Leeming, Moore Wilson's and Newbolds were contacted by the Wairarapa Times-Age and all sales representatives said there were no fans available for purchase in Wairarapa.
Julia Morton, head of PR and media for The Warehouse Group, said fans have been extremely popular with The Warehouse customers this summer. "We saw a peak in demand during some great weather at the beginning of December, and after the temperatures this past week -- they've just flown out the door."
Masterton has repeatedly been top of the pops when it comes to temperatures this summer with the MetService often forecasting temperatures above 30 degrees. There was one last gleam of hope for those struggling with the heat in the form of a "very good condition" Rinni Vintage Electric Oscillating Fan which sold on Trade Me yesterday in Carterton.
