KEY POINTS:
Some disgruntled cricket fans missed an hour of last night's Twenty20 showpiece between the Black Caps and England at Eden Park after a ticketing botch-up left them on the street instead of in their seats.
The Herald understands as many as 3000 fans who had bought tickets online were left outside when the match began at 7pm. Some were still waiting to be admitted at 8pm, near the end of the first innings.
Alex Hogan, 21, waited more than 45 minutes to get his ticket after arriving at 7pm. "I'm really upset. We were told this was supposed to be the quickest way into the ground.#"It's just poor organisation. Once I got to the ticket booth they were flipping through the tickets, looking for mine for about five minutes."
Alex Whitcher, from Auckland, said he was going to complain to the ground management. "It's just not good enough. I've been waiting for an hour, and the game's half over."
Eden Park management did not return phone calls last night, but staff gave different reasons for the delay.
An official at the ground said too many people had arrived just before the game started, so the ticket booths could not cope.
ut another source said too many tickets were sold for the ASB Stand by Ticketek, and fans had to be hastily allocated new seats in different stands.
