The Martinborough Hotel is for sale.
The iconic hotel, situated on the town square, was advertised over the weekend for sale by tender. The tender closes at 2pm on October 28.
The hotel has been credited with helping to fuel Martinborough's burgeoning reputation as a trendy wine centre after it was bought and refurbished by Mike and Sally Laven in 1995.
The hotel is advertised as having 16 guest rooms, a conference room, library, snooker room, bistrot and bars.
The announcement comes after the sale process of another Martinborough hotel, the Pukemanu on the opposite side of the square.
Another Martinborough boutique hotel, the Aylstone, is also on the market. Mr Laven, an English-born chartered surveyor, and his wife, a former Radio New Zealand journalist, oversaw a $2 million renovation of the hotel that involved restoring the character veranda that had been removed in a 1970s modernisation.
