"I spoke to him last on the Tuesday night. The parting words were I love you and he loved me".
"His biggest downfall was he would do anything for anyone at the drop of a hat.
"He fathered three wonderful children, he was a skilled golfer and was well loved and liked by many. But, like many others these days, he got caught up in a drug scene and compromised all he'd worked for.
"That doesn't mean he deserved to die the way he did. It does mean that those who know how and why he died need to help Police by providing information so that our communities can be protected from such killers."
Detective inspector Greg Cramer said it was clear Mr Mcmurdo suffered a violent death.
Police were now searching for a 50 inch LG television and a black wallet containing a national bank eftpos card and video ezy card.
Anyone with information can call 0508 00 6268 or the anonymous crimestoppers line 0800 555 111.
