A Queenstown family was woken by a stranger having a shower in their bathroom, police say.
Queenstown police were called to a Man St property at 2.30am on Saturday where they arrested a 22-year-old man.
Acting Sergeant Mark Caswell said: "He told the occupants it was his backpackers' apartment, there was no problem and they should leave him alone. He was very intoxicated and had no idea where he was.''
The man allegedly became obnoxious and abusive when spoken to by police.
He is due to appear in the Queenstown District Court tomorrow charged with unlawfully being on a property.
