An Auckland family had a surprise early morning wake-up today when a car flew off the road and landed in their backyard.
Clay Sesto said his wife, Hayley, was woken up by a noise at about 2.30am and went to investigate.
"She woke up to a loud bang and came out to find a car teetering on the edge of our backyard," he said.
"From our kitchen it's quite bizarre - it looks like the car's about to roll in."
Mr Clay said a crane had arrived at his Sunrise Avenue, Murrays Bay, property to remove the vehicle.
Police have questioned the occupant of the car.
