A dispute involving a South Canterbury farming family and Transpower was due to go before the Environment Court today.
Dairy farmer Gareth Hale and his family, who live in Southburn near Timaru, have eight pylons on their property and are in a dispute with Transpower over easement, access and compensation agreements.
Transpower is upgrading its Roxburgh-Islington transmission lines, which feed Christchurch.
The Hales are challenging whether Transpower has a statutory right to carry out the work on their property or whether they must buy an easement across the property and pay compensation.
