The family of Ezra Tapp have thanked the public for their support in the wake of his death.
Ezra, 3, died in the Ohinemuri River after wandering from his family home in Waihi on Tuesday.
Today the Tapp family held a private funeral for their son and issued a statement through the police.
"The Tapp family wish to thank everyone who has continued to support us as we grieve for our beautiful Ezra.
"This is the worst possible tragedy for us but we are thankful for the many kind words and the help we have received from the community as we struggle to come to terms with losing our much loved "Ezee-bear"."
