A family of nine, including four children, were massacred in Muslim-majority southern Thailand, where an insurgency has killed more than 1000 people in two years.
Officials said about 30 Islamist militants surrounded a house in Bo-Ngo, firing bullets and grenades inside before shooting the victims with handguns.
The governor of Narathiwat province, Pracha Tearat, said Luteng Arwarebueza, the head of the family targeted, was a former rebel who quit the insurgency five months ago.
