A man found dead on a walking track in the Coromandel has been identified by relatives, police said.
The man, whose name had not been released, was a 50-year-old from Rotorua, Tairua Police Sergeant Damien O'Kane said.
The man's body was found on Wednesday, and his body was flown to Waikato Hospital on New Year's Day.
Mr O'Kane said relatives identified the man at the hospital last night.
"Police would like to extend our sympathies to the man's family for their loss."
