Community: The Sustainable City Showcase will be held at The Cloud on the 17-19 October, on Auckland's waterfront, and will showcase over 100 exhibitors with innovative, sustainable business and lifestyle ideas and diverse practical solutions to allow people to shape more successful, sustainable lifestyles.
Families can make a day of it with plenty to keep the kids entertained while the parents check out the best in sustainable lifestyle options. There will be delicious organic food available for the whole family and healthy treats like Nice Blocks for the children.
At the Sustainable City Showcase on Saturday, October 19, Sustainable Coastlines will be offering practical workshops for kids where they can create colourful murals and mosaics from plastic found on the beach - with the idea of educating and teaching children and their parents how to make useful items out of waste. A modified shipping container will be the venue for the kids' activities, and will offer audio-visual educational workshops and fun free mosaic activities aimed at 5-to-12-year-olds and their parents.
Sustainable Coastlines is an award-winning non profit which works to keep our New Zealand coastlines beautiful. Education is a key priority so all New Zealanders can understand how plastic and other waste is affecting marine life.
Tread Lightly Caravan will also be at the Sustainable City Showcase on Saturday, October 19, and is designed to inspire school children (years 5 -8) and their families to live more sustainably.
It will comprise of fun, interactive exhibits including computer games, video-microscope, an energy generating bike, games and quizzes.
Entrance to the Sustainable City Showcase is free and all kids' activities are free, with all project materials and tools supplied by Sustainable Coastlines and Tread Lightly Caravan.
