New Zealand will reportedly reunite three families separated for more than two years under the Australian Government's tough line on boat people.
This follows a plea from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Ruud Lubbers.
A spokeswoman for Australian Immigration Minister Senator Amanda Vanstone last night confirmed the families would be reunited in New Zealand.
It is believed the UNHCR unsuccessfully lobbied Australia before approaching New Zealand.
