KEY POINTS:
Firefighters and police cordoned off an Auckland pavement and part of a street last night after a 10th-floor window on an inner-city building shattered, causing glass to cascade to the ground, narrowly missing pedestrians and vehicles.
The window, on about the 10th floor of the AMI Insurance building on the corner of Albert and Wyndham Streets, partially shattered about 6pm.
Emergency services were forced to place a wide cordon around the building to protect people from falling glass. Repair work was under way last night.
